Math, 4 Digit by 1 Digit Multiplication Worksheet

4 Digit by 1 Digit Multiplication

In multiplying a four-digit number by a 1 digit number we begin from the right, namely the units digit. If the result is 1 digit we write it to the right in the result section. If it is a 2 digit result we write the units digit and the number in tens digits to the result of multiplication by the next number. This procedure is repeated until the number in the thousands unit is multiplied and the result is written.

Let’s learn about the four basic properties of multiplication. Here is a brief summary of these features:

1. Commutative property of multiplication: Changing the order of the factors does not change the product. For example, 4 x  3 = 3 x 4

2. Associative property of multiplication: Changing the grouping of factors does not change the product. For example, (2 x 3) x 4 = 2 x (3 x 4)

3. Multiplication neutral property: Any number multiplied by 1 is that number itself. For example, 7 x 1 = 7

4. Absorbing element of multiplication: If we multiply a natural number by “0”, the result will be “0”. Zero is the absorbing element in the multiplication operation.
