Mathematics appears as a phenomenon that has traces in every moment of life. Mathematics, which is an important part of daily life, undoubtedly contains many skills (problem-solving, probabilistic thinking, discrimination, establishing relationships, reasoning, trial, and error, etc.) necessary for the continuation of life. In this context, meeting mathematics at an early age and acquiring skills with the right experiences will provide individuals with the opportunity to use the power of mathematics for a lifetime.

Early childhood is also a critical period for the acquisition of mathematical thinking. The environment and opportunities provided to children during this period will not only contribute to their development of positive attitudes towards mathematics but will also make it easier for them to acquire many skills that will be the basis of their future lives. For this reason, it is necessary to know the basic mathematical concepts correctly in early childhood and to support these concepts in accordance with their developmental stages.

Comparison is the process of determining whether two objects are the same or different according to a certain property (amount, size, color, time). While comparing, the child finds a relationship between two objects or two groups based on some characteristics.

It is the basis for the formation of the ability to compare, sort, and measure. Children use words like “more” and “less” during comparison activities. Children’s ability to make one-to-one matching, counting, and classification help children when making comparisons.
