The months of the year are super fun to learn about! There are twelve months in a year, and each one is special and unique. Let’s take a closer look at each month and its unique characteristics.

12 Months of the Year

We start the year with January. It’s a time for new beginnings and making resolutions for the year ahead. January has 31 days and marks the start of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, while in the Southern Hemisphere, summertime is just beginning.

February usually has 28 days, but every 4 years, it has an extra day, known as leap day. 1.

March has 31 days and marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

April has 30 days and is associated with rainy and windy weather in some places in the Northern Hemisphere.

May is the fifth month of the year and has 31 days. It marks the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and is a bright and cheerful month.

June marks the start of summer vacation for many kids, providing ample time for outdoor activities and play.

July is the seventh month of the year. It has 31 days and is on average the warmest month in most of the Northern Hemisphere, where it is the second month of summer. 

August is the month when preparations for going back to school begin, bringing the excitement of meeting new teachers and friends.

September marks the official start of fall, with leaves changing colors and the prevalence of pumpkin spice flavors.

October is the tenth month of the year. It has a length of 31 days.

November is the last month of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. The month is 30 days long and is known for various cultural, historical, and seasonal events.

December, with its rich historical significance and cultural importance, marks the end of the year and the beginning of the winter season in the Northern Hemisphere.
