Multiplication by 2s and 3s Printable Worksheet

Multiplication by 2s and 3s

Multiplication is a fun way to add numbers quickly! Instead of adding the same number over and over, we can use multiplication to make counting easier. In this essay, we will learn about multiplying by 2s and 3s. These are important multiplication facts that help us in math every day!

Multiplying by 2s

When we multiply by 2, it means we are doubling a number. This means we add the number to itself. For example:

  • 2 × 1 = 2 (which is the same as 1 + 1)
  • 2 × 2 = 4 (which is the same as 2 + 2)
  • 2 × 3 = 6 (which is the same as 3 + 3)

If we keep going, we can see a pattern:

  • 2 × 4 = 8
  • 2 × 5 = 10
  • 2 × 6 = 12
  • 2 × 7 = 14
  • 2 × 8 = 16
  • 2 × 9 = 18
  • 2 × 10 = 20

When we multiply by 2, the numbers always get bigger by 2 each time. If we look at the answers, we see a pattern: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20. These numbers are called even numbers. So, when we multiply by 2, the answer is always an even number!

Multiplying by 3s

Now, let’s look at multiplying by 3. This means we add a number three times. For example:

  • 3 × 1 = 3 (which is the same as 1 + 1 + 1)
  • 3 × 2 = 6 (which is the same as 2 + 2 + 2)
  • 3 × 3 = 9 (which is the same as 3 + 3 + 3)

Let’s keep going to see the pattern:

  • 3 × 4 = 12
  • 3 × 5 = 15
  • 3 × 6 = 18
  • 3 × 7 = 21
  • 3 × 8 = 24
  • 3 × 9 = 27
  • 3 × 10 = 30

When we multiply by 3, the numbers get bigger by 3 each time. The pattern we see is 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30. These numbers are called multiples of 3!

Fun Tricks to Remember

Here are some fun ways to remember multiplying by 2s and 3s:

  1. Use your fingers: Hold up your fingers and count by 2s or 3s.
  2. Look for patterns: Numbers in the 2s pattern are always even. Numbers in the 3s pattern go up by 3 each time.
  3. Practice with songs: There are many fun multiplication songs to help you remember!
  4. Use real-life objects: Count apples, toys, or anything around you in groups of 2s and 3s.

Why is Multiplication Important?

Multiplication helps us in everyday life! We use it when we count money, share food, or even play games. Learning to multiply by 2s and 3s will help us solve bigger math problems easily!

Multiplication is a great way to make math easier and faster. By learning how to multiply by 2s and 3s, we can count quickly and recognize patterns. Keep practicing, and soon you will be a multiplication master!
