Superlative Adjectives Worksheet with Answer Key

What Are Superlative Adjectives?

Superlative adjectives are special words we use to compare three or more things and show the most or best of something! They tell us which thing has the highest or lowest quality.

For example:

  • This is the biggest ice cream cone I have ever seen!
  • That was the happiest day of my life!
  • My dog is the fastest in the park!

How Do We Make Superlative Adjectives?

Short adjectives (1 syllable) – Add -est to the word.

  • Tall → Tallest
  • Fast → Fastest
  • Small → Smallest

Long adjectives (2 or more syllables) – Add most before the word.

  • Beautiful → Most beautiful
  • Interesting → Most interesting
  • Careful → Most careful

Irregular adjectives Some words change completely!

  • Good → Best
  • Bad → Worst
  • Far → Farthest
